Kosher Certification

Baked by Yael has two kosher certifications: one from DC Kosher and one from Rabbi Aaron Alexander at Adas Israel Congregation.  Please see a copy of our DC Kosher certification below.

All of our ingredients are hecschered (certified kosher), and our kitchen is certified kosher. However, our kitchen is not kosher for Passover.

Our dairy ingredients are not Chalav Yisrael.

Our bagels, challah, and vegan items are certified pareve by DC Kosher.

We are certified by DC Kosher. DC Kosher is a project of Ohev Sholom – The National Synagogue (OSTNS), cofounded by the OSTNS clergy Maharat Ruth Friedman and Rabbi Shmuel Herzfeld. OSTNS is an Orthodox synagogue in Washington, DC. For more information, visit www.dckosher.org

We are also supervised by Rabbi Aaron Alexander at Adas Israel Congregation, located four blocks down the street from our bakery. Rabbi Alexander is a certified mashgiach (kosher supervisor) by the Conservative Movement, and serves on its Committee for Jewish Law and Standards.

Baked by Yael is also one of the largest distributors of shmurah gluten-free oat matzah.  This matzah is made off-site in Brooklyn, New York and in Israel.
