FAQ

Do your bagels contain dairy, egg, or honey?
No.  Our bagels are vegan.

Are your bagels gluten-free?
No.  Our bagels use hi-gluten flour.  We have tried to make a gluten-free bagel and have failed miserably each time.  The gluten is what gives bagels their chewy bagel-like consistency.

Why are all of your bagels a different shape?
We hand-roll our bagels.  This is what gives them their authentic, artisan look and taste.  If you're comparing our bagels to other places whose bagels all look exactly the same, their bagels were probably made by a machine (not hand-rolled).  In our opinion, a bagel that isn't hand-rolled isn't a real bagel.

What's on your Everything bagel?
Sesame, poppy, onion, garlic, salt

Do you make Cinnamon Raisin, Blueberry, Whole Wheat, or Pumpernickel bagels?
No.

Do I have to eat all the bagels the same day I get them?
No.  You can freeze them the same day you get them and enjoy them later.

What's the best way to reheat your bagels?
- Freeze the bagels you don’t eat today in a freezer bag (do not slice).
- Pre-heat oven (or set toaster oven) to 340°(F).
- Bake unsliced, frozen bagel for 12-14 minutes.
- Let bagel cool for a bit before slicing.
- Enjoy!

We bake challah fresh on Thursdays and Fridays.  We sometimes have a few challahs available for purchase on Friday without a subscription.  If we do, they will be made available for purchase on this page.  If you order challah for pickup on Saturday or Sunday, it will have been baked on Thursday and frozen the same day it was baked.

We've done an embarrassing amount of taste-testing to make sure our challah is as good as it can possibly be.  We hope you love it as much as we do.

Choose from regular or jumbo sizes, in either plain, raisin, or vegan plain.  Regular size is a little less than a foot long.  Jumbo size is about 15 inches long and twice the overall size of a Regular challah.

How does it work?
- We'll add you to our challah reservation list every Friday for the duration of your subscription.
- Going out of town? Let us know by the end of day on Wednesday that you'd like to skip your challah that week and we'll extend your subscription.
- We offer pickup at our bakery (including complementary curbside pickup), local delivery, and nationwide shipping.

Handcrafted Challah Board

This unique Challah Board was handcrafted in Annapolis, MD, from quality wood, a mix of Maple, Cherry, and Mahogany. The Hebrew words of Hamotzi (The blessing for the bread) are engraved on the board. In order to preserve the quality and beauty of the wood, it is finished with mineral oil and Candelilla Wax.

This Challah board is an excellent gift for weddings, Jewish holidays, anniversaries, housewarmings, or any occasion. 

Due to the nature of the wood, each board is unique and may have slight variations in color and grain from what is shown in the picture.

The size of the board is approximately 15.5” x 10” x 0.75”.

To clean the Challah board, wash it by hand with liquid soap, wipe it with a dry cloth and let it air-dry on its side. Periodically, recondition the board with mineral oil or cutting board oil. Do not submerge the board in water for a long time or place it in a dishwasher. Doing so will damage the board.

About the Artist:

Rafi Krigman is a retired engineer with a passion for woodcraft. He has a small wood shop in Annapolis, MD, where he spends time building Judaic wood craft items including, Challah boards, customized Chanukah Menorahs, and customized Purim noisemakers. He also makes children's toys and other personalized items commissioned by customers. Oh, and Rafi also happens to be Yael's father :-)

Our kitchen is small and our challah-making capacity is limited.  We encourage you to place your order early.  As reach capacity for pickup/delivery on certain dates, we will make them unavailable online.  If you cannot get your preferred date, you can select an earlier date and freeze your challah until the day you want to serve it.
